How to connect two wireless routers together wirelessly

Software (3rd party firmware)

You can use the following software / firemware to get the addition features which are not typically included in a manufacturer’s router firmware such as client mode wireless bridge. You can either setup a full WAP or just bridge your LAN so that wireless devices can get access to all LAN resources transparently.
  1. DD-WRT : Linux-based alternative OpenSource firmware for wireless routers. It works for several routers, most notably the Linksys. It works great with variety of wireless routers and embedded systems. This is recommend for new users as it comes with easy to use web-gui.
  2. Tomato : Another simple and easy to use replacement firmware for Linksys’ WRT54G/GL/GS, Buffalo WHR-G54S/WHR-HP-G54, Asus and other Broadcom-based routers. It features a new easy to use GUI, a new bandwidth usage monitor, more advanced QOS and access restrictions, enables new wireless features such as WDS and wireless client modes, raises the limits on maximum connections for P2P, allows you to run your custom scripts or telnet/ssh in and do all sorts of things like re-program the SES/AOSS button, adds wireless site survey to see your wifi neighbors, and more. This is recommend for new users as it comes with easy to use web-gui.
  3. OpenWrt : OpenWrt is not just firmware but it is often described as a complete Linux distribution for embedded devices. Instead of trying to create a single, static firmware, OpenWrt provides a fully writable filesystem with package management. This frees you from the application selection and configuration provided by the vendor and allows you to customize the device through the use of packages to suit any application. This firmware is recommend for advanced users only.
  4. DIY option – You can install Linux or FreeBSD/OpenBSD based operating systems and create a full WAP or just a bridge. This option requires good understanding of Unix, networks and embedded devices.

Wlan Advantages And Disadvantages

Wireless LAN is made by connecting different devices through wireless communication to make a local area network. WLAN follows a standard named IEEE 802.11. WLAN connects laptops, smartphones, personal digital assistants, desktop computers, workstations and printers. This network is easy to install and use at the home or any other place.
WLAN include an access point (AP) which is used to connect to the internet. AP sends and receives radio frequency signal to the connected devices. In 1990 WLAN installation was expensive and was only deployed where the wired connection was not possible. In the late 1990s, cost decreases to implement WLAN because of using IEEE 802.11 standard. It works with a bandwidth of 2.4 GHZ (802.11b) or 5 GHZ (802.11 a). The devices which WLAN connects are also called clients.
WLAN gives a high data transfer rate. It uses star topology in which all nodes send/receive data through access points. It works better in homes and offices. Especially in offices no extra cables are required and arranging a meeting is also easy.  It has a data transfer rate of 1-10 Mbps. Wireless LAN uses security which includes WEP or WPZ. It also uses infrared technology if required.

Advantages of wireless local area network (WLAN)

  • It is a reliable type of communication
  • As WLAN reduces physical wires so it is a flexible way of communication
  • WLAN also reduces the cost of ownership
  • It is easier to add or remove  workstation
  • It provides high data rate due to small area coverage
  • You can also move workstation while maintaining the connectivity
  • For propagation, the light of sight is not required
  • Disadvantages of wireless local area network (WLAN)

    • WLAN requires license
    • It has a limited area to cover
    • Government agencies can limit the signals of WLAN if required. This can affect data transfer from connected devices to the internet
    • If the number of connected devices increases then data transfer rate decreases
    • WLAN uses radio frequency which can interfere with other devices which use radio frequency
    • If there is rain or thunder then communication may interfere

Advantages and disadvantages of Wi-Fi

The Wi-Fi is a very good advancement of technology and Wireless-Fidelity means. Through this means of Internet access, it is not necessary to connect with a cable to the router, but it is done wirelessly. This means that it is much more practical than connecting wired, but as we will see below, apart from this advantage, connecting to the Internet via Wi-Fi has its disadvantages. Next we will see these advantages and disadvantages of Wi-Fi :

Advantages:
  • It is possible to connect to the Internet without a cable, this is the main advantage that everyone knows.
  • Expanding or expanding the network does not require too much cost since otherwise, if you wanted to make a wired network, you would lose a lot of money.
  • As the technology developed, the prices of the network boards and also those of the routers / modems dropped considerably.
  • It is possible, through a change of coverage or also known as the term "roaming", to change the notebook or the connection point in question and the link will continue to work without problem without getting too far from the router.
  • It has advantages associated with the fact that it is possible to connect to the Internet in places that long ago seemed impossible, such as long-distance buses, or airplanes.

Disadvantages of Wireless Networks.

But as a wireless network, Wi-Fi technology presents the intrinsic problems of  any wireless technology. Some of them are:

One of the disadvantages of the Wi-Fi system is a lower speed compared to a wired connection, due to the interference and loss of signal that the environment can cause. The fundamental disadvantage of these networks lies in the field of security. There are some programs capable of capturing packets, working with your wifi card in promiscuous mode, so that they can calculate the network password and thus access it. WEP type keys are relatively easy to obtain with this system. The Wi-Fi Alliance fixed these problems by removing the WPA standard and then WPA2, based on the 802.11i workgroup.
Networks protected with WPA2 are considered robust as they provide very good security. However, many companies do not allow their employees to use a wireless network  . This problem is exacerbated if we consider that the coverage area of a connection cannot be controlled, so that a receiver can be connected from outside the intended reception area (for example: from outside an office. From an adjoining house) .
The power of the Wi-Fi connection will be affected by the physical agents that are around us, such as: trees, walls, streams, a mountain, etc. These factors affect the sharing power of the Wi-Fi connection with other devices.

Main Disadvantage Of Cable Modem Networking?

Disadvantage Of Cable Modem Networking
Connection instability: One of the supposed advantages that circulate around this type of connections is that they are very stable, more than the ADSL. This is not true at all. Let's see, the transmission of this data depends on the same network that serves mobile phones, and is subject to exactly the same coverage and interference problems as these. It is true that in areas with very good coverage there are no problems, but ... Who has not ever run out of it on the mobile? But not only is this, is that at the moment when the signal is bad for 3G transmissions, it automatically goes to GPRS, with the consequent loss of speed (the maximum attainable speed in data transmission by GPRS is 115 Kbps). It is true that these connections are not influenced by the state of the line (copper pair),
Lack of coverage: This theme links in part with the previous one. We have talked about the advantages of the enormous mobility that have this type of connections compared to traditional ADSL, even if they are Wifi ... but this is, of course, as long as we have coverage, and I repeat, who has not stayed any time without mobile coverage? In addition, contrary to what happens with ADSL connections, which are not influenced by problems of voice line saturation, in the case of 3G connections this does occur, and before saturation in the repeater from which the signal that we are using either will significantly lower the speed or we will lose the connection. In addition, not all signal repeaters are ready to offer 3G connections, and less HSDPA. I know that many will say that they have no problem,
High latency: The latency time on a 3G or HSDPA connection is longer than an ADSL line or cable. This is not usually very important for browsing or instant messaging services, but for other uses, such as online games.

WLAN & LAN: What Is The Difference

Difference Between WLAN and LAN, there is a fundamental difference that you probably already know: WLAN works wirelessly, while LAN is based on cable data transmission. Including this basic feature, we talk about what is behind the two terms.
How does the WLAN work?
WLAN stands for wireless local area network. A wireless network where communication between computers is done through the radio. A problem related to the use of WLAN is low security , since the cryptographic standard is not enough at present. If you choose a WLAN and want to be sure to surf a secure network, you need additional security measures. The WLAN is composed of network nodes, each of which forms a radio cell. Communication between network nodes is possible as long as the radio cells overlap.
The range of a radio cell is about 300 meters outdoors. Inside buildings, although electromagnetic radiation is capable of penetrating windows and walls, it does not exceed 30 meters. Repeaters can be used to increase coverage. The data transfer rate depends on the standard used and varies between 2 Mb / s and 600 Mb / s. However, radio interference makes this rate difficult to achieve. Reality shows much lower data ranging between 0.9 and 74 Mb / s.
How does the LAN work?
LAN is the acronym for Local Area Network and, as the English word suggests, it is a network computer system in a small space, such as a four-wall office. The LAN is characterized by a high data rate and a low error rate. Another advantage is the lower risk of hacker attacks compared to WLAN.

LAN, MAN AND WAN DEFINITION

LAN  stands for  Local Area Network A LAN is a network that connects computers in a relatively small and predetermined area (such as a room, a building, or a set of buildings).
LAN networks can be connected to each other through telephone lines and radio waves. A system of LAN networks connected in this way is called a  WAN , an acronym for Wide-Area Network,  realtek wifi adapter Wide Area Network EXAMPLE:

MAN

A  metropolitan area network  ( Metropolitan Area Network  or  MAN ,) is a network of high - speed ( broadband) that covers a large geographic area, provides ability to integrate multiple services by transmitting data, voice and video On transmission media such as fiber optic and twisted pair (MAN LOOP), copper pair technology is positioned as the largest network in the world an excellent alternative for the creation of metropolitan networks, due to its low latency (between 1 and 50ms), high stability and lack of radio interference, MAN LOOP networks, offer speeds of 10Mbps, 20Mbps, 45Mbps, 75Mbps, over copper pairs and 100Mbps, 1Gbps  and 10Gbps by Fiber Optic.

WAN

wide area network , often referred to as WAN , an    acronym  for the English wide area network , is a type   of computer network  capable of covering distances from about 100 to about 1000 km, providing service to a country or a continent . An example of this type of networks would be  RedIRIS ,  Internet  or any network in which all its members are not in the same building (on the distance there is possible discussion).
Many WANs are built by and for a particular organization or company and are for private use, others are built by internet providers ( ISPs ) to provide connection to their customers.

engineering consulting jobs

Consulting is an area that can be exercised from different disciplines, fields or professions. Companies, whatever their activity, are always looking for those who provide advice, support and guidance.
One of those areas is engineering, that is, the science that brings together scientific and technological knowledge for innovation, invention, development and techniques to meet specific needs.
Or in other words: engineering is the science that transforms a group of knowledge into practical and useful solutions.
To do this, engineering consulting jobs uses its own knowledge of areas such as mathematics, chemistry, physics, programming, computer systems and others that have appeared after the development of new technologies. Likewise, it must adapt to limitations of time, security, resources, legal requirements, among others.
Even in recent times, engineering and consulting engineers have had to incorporate a new element: the ecological component, which forces initiatives and ideas to develop according to sustainable approaches.
